Adding up to 10

I am learning to write number sentences to 10.  I use the number line to help me count on.  I am working towards trying to do this in my head.

Phonics

We are learning to listen and record the sounds we can hear.  We are able to blend the sounds altogether.  We can use our phonics at Story writing and Reading time to help us.

" I can robot my sounds so you can use them at Reading and story writing.  We can learn more words." said Lauren

Making Pizza

We made pizza as a class, using ingredients that we had grown ourselves. 

These photos show the writing process. We started with the 'draft stage', where students try to use the skills they have been taught. After 'conferencing' with the teacher and 'editing', they produce the 'published work' for their audience to enjoy.

Paper bear

We learnt how to draw a teddy bear looking at the different shapes that make up the head and arms. We wrote about our bear and published it onto a paper bag.

Cats

I have been learning how to draw a cat.  I can mix colours together and I can also use charcoal to show shading.

Reading for Meaning

I am learning to go back and read my sentence again if it does not sound right.  I can also robot some words to help me work them out.

Deep in the compost bin!

As part of our inquiry we have been looking at creatures that dwell in the darkness of our compost bins.

After we observed and handled these creatures, watched video clips and read books about them; we wrote these fabulous stories.

Part of the writing process is presenting our finished work in a way the captures our readers attention. We hope you enjoy viewing our quality work!

Subtracting with Bees!

The skittles game is a fun way to learn about subtraction problems to ten. You also have to try and write a number sentence that matches the number of skittles standing up and lying down.

"I like the games. Fairy frogs is the best one on the computer. I can do it easy as." Lauren

Reading

I am learning to point to the words and make the beginning sounds of words I do not know.

Lauren  says, " I can look at the picture to help me read. It gives us a clue. I point to words so I don't get the words wrong. You have got to look at the words and the letters too."

Maths

I am learning to play snakes and ladders so I know how to count on.  I am learning to take turns and wait while others have their turn.

Lauren said," I am playing snakes and ladders. You have to take turns and count properly. You have to do counting and go up the ladders. Sometimes you go down and have to start again. I don't like that."

Story writing

I am learning to write my story by myself.  I can use my word card and my sounds to help me write the words.

Lauren said " I can do finger spaces and full stops.  I can write 2 sentences now."

Scooter day

We are learning to keep ourselves safe when we are on a scooter.

Swimming

I am learning to get into the pool safely and have confidence to put my head under the water.
