Making Inferences

Reflection
I was learning to use clues in a picture to make inferences.  It was tricky to answer some questions because I had to search hard for the clues.  I will try to make inferences more often when I'm reading so that I can get better.

Estimation

Reflection
I was learning to check any addition and subtraction with estimation.
I learnt how to make estimation easier with rounding off a number.
Now I plan to estimate using  bigger numbers and then make it easier by rounding off numbers.

Narrative Poem

Waiheke War

Once there was a peaceful,
Island called Waiheke.

There was an empororsaurus,
and he was greedy.

The fire god didn’t like him.

Really he didn’t like him to the brim.

But the water god did.

So they declared war.

Everyone heard so they panicked.

The warriors were emerging,
from both sides.

The dancing flowers were
seeking shelter.

Swords were clanging louder,
than a pelter.

Then the fire god surrendered.

Everything on the land healed.

The dancing flowers came.

That was the aim.

So peace came up again.

Reflection
I was learning to write Narrative Poems.
I have learnt how to write a poem with the less amount of information than a story.
My next step is to use rhymes on every sentence of my poems.

Making Inferences

Reflection

Today I explored how to inference.  I liked how I made the inference really long.
Next time I will try harder to find more clues to the story.

Place Value Partitioning

Reflection

I have been learning to do place value partitioning with a minus.  I'm proud of my hundreds because I'm quite good at tens and ones.  Next time I'd like to do thousands questions because I thought, that these questions are easy for me.

Nonsense Poem

Breaking news!
Here is the news
a carpet, a carpet,
a carpet, a dusty, boring carpet.

I went to target
and looked at some carpet.

I’m confused the carpet
is used.

The carpet is
in the basket.

I’m cold
the carpet is bold.

I’m watered the carpet
is slaughtered.

The basket is an enemy
of the carpet.

The pocket is alive to
the carpet.

 That was the news
 a carpet, a carpet a
 dusty, boring carpet.
That was the news!

Mystery letter

99 Banana Road
Fruit Valley
0000

Dear mum and dad,

I hear birds chirping and lots of people talking. Lava rocks are falling. Salty air is dancing around me.
Mud brown dirt are sloshing in my fingers. There are trees everywhere.  I smell coal and dirt.
Soft leaves in my hand are emerald green.  The sun is as bright as gold and surrounding it is aquamarine
blue sky. I can still taste my cheese and pickle sandwich.

Where am I?

Reflections:

We have been learning to use our senses.  I enjoyed writing all the senses down in my book. I found thinking up the senses tricky because mostly we didn't do these things.  Next I will try to write faster.

Summarising

Reflection:

We have learning to summarise using the main ideas in a text.  I enjoyed making the story short.  I found looking for main ideas tricky.  Next I will try to read the story more carefully so I can find more ideas.

Lizard facts

Reflection

We have been learning about mokomokos because we have been looking after the school lizard garden.  Something I enjoyed was learning all about the lizard habitats.  Something I found tricky was looking for lizard diets.  Next time will try to go deeper in to the learning by reading more texts about the topic.
